Il. 20.420λιαζόμενον προτὶ γαίῃ,” sinking to earth. Soph. Aj. 95πρὸς ... στρατῷ,” 97 πρὸς Ἀτρείδαισιν are different, since no motion is strictly implied. Here the conjecture ἐπὶ is metrically admissible ( Aesch. Ag. 66κάμακος θήσων Δαναοῖσι,Aesch. Pers. 48φοβερὰν ὄψιν προσιδέσθαι),” but needless.
